I have been using Trover since late this summer and it is quickly becoming the place where I share my travel photos as opposed to using Facebook. When I am travelling around I usually post random pictures on Instagram and share on Facebook, but I want more than just sharing.
It is Instagram and Pinterest for Travel
While Instagram and Pinterest are good place to find and follow people, Trover is just an awesome application to find places around the world. It is as addictive as Pinterest and you can comment and start conversations just like on Instagram.
Automatic geo-location built into the app
As soon as you get into Trover page and browse through the ‘Explore’ navigation item you will see an arrow on your right-hand side that shows how far away these places are from your current location. Also when you browse a particular photo, you will have other similar photos from nearby locations.
This could be useful for example, if you are in a destination and are looking for a new place to discover to go the next day.
Adding and following lists
You have the option to create different lists for your photos by destination, which is an advantage over Instagram. At the same time you can follow lists added by other people and get notifications when they add new images.
By having new lists and following others, you can also start a conversation about the list or a particular photo.
Learning about a destination
Once you add a photo you can get the exact geo-location by using the integrated Google mapping and if not you can tag that place on the map. Another useful feature is to add information about the place you have explored and then link it to more information to your blog or to another source.
I have started using Trover for my next trip to Asia in the coming weeks. One of the destinations I will be visiting is Myanmar. I found Trover easy to add destinations I want to visit in this country and also I have explored new places thanks to this application.
Trover also introduced widgets where you can just embed images or lists into your pages instead of self-hosting images directly on your server.
