Le Boccaccio is situated in the heart of the town of Nice in the Massena pedestrian district. It was the ideal place to have lunch on a very warm
July afternoon. The display of oysters, lemon and other fresh crustacean tantalised our tastebuds and was a feast to our sight. The restaurant seemed elegant, stylish and popular with the locals. Luckily a table set on the outside terrace vacated on our arrival. The indoor area of the restaurant is spread on two floors, and recreats the interior of an old sailing ship…titanic style.
Different seafood dishes, Bouillabaisse (a regional speciality), meat, paella and pasta dishes round out the à la carte menu. We chose the Royal Seafood Tray, of course French white wine and water. The complimentary starter consisting of fresh marinated octopus (which melted in our mouths) along with two types of bread and home made mayonnaise. Our main course, and as the name rightly stated was A ROYAL TREAT, indeed! It consisted of a dozen oysters,
prawns, crabs, mussels, lobsters, snails and a variety of other shellfish all served fresh on ice with wedges of lemon. We savoured all of the delicacies on the tray. It was a luxurious indulgence…the best seafood I have had in my life !!!!!!!!
Our bill (for two) amounted to €154.70 including wine, water and impeccable service.
