Diwan’s Indian Restaurant

Date of last visit: Saturday 11th February 2012

The Location:  It is best to reach Tourist Street from the Bugibba Police Station. To reach the restaurant you have to walk/drive all the way down.

No of Victims: 2

The Damage: EUR 52 for two excluding wine

The atmosphere:  Place looks shabby, and it feels like the restaurant is about to close down.  The air inside was not right either.

The Service:  Robotic !! Sparkling water was not available!!

The Menu: The prestige tasting menu I talked so much about with my guest was NOT available on the day!!  Alternatively we could choose from a EUR 20 set menu which included for starters and main the usual Indian dishes and dessert OR from the a’ la carte section.   We did not have wine.

Our Food:  For starters we shared Onion Bhaji, Aubergine Cream served with naan bread and Fish Pakora. The Onion Bhaji were good, the rest nothing special. For mains we shared two dishes – Jalfrezi Chicken and Lamb Korma. The Lamb Korma was good, the chicken nothing special. Presentation was poor. The white pilau rice was served with cloves. It was not as tasty as it usually does in other restaurants. The naan bread was ok.

The Verdict:  Disappointed!  When I visited last year it was an amazing experience, with taste, presentation, service and ambience.  Regrettably, this time round it was the complete opposite.
