This is not one of those commercial restaurants you find along the VWF, or at least it does not look as such to me! I was there about two/three weeks ago, on a Thursday night with some colleagues. We had pre dinner drinks at the bar, until we waited for everyone to arrive, whilst some live music kept us entertained. Not many changes have been done following the previous ownership by Amici Miei. The place is very stylish but at the same time looks so warm and welcoming.
We all gathered upstairs on a long table. It was a bit hot upstairs, but not unbearably hot. We ordered our starters, mains, wine and waters. Very fresh buns were laid on our table – how can you refuse such smell! Then we had the bruscettas and the garlic bread both served with black olives on the side. Hmmmmm …so Mediterranean
After about 15 minutes, and there came our mains, all served at the same time, all decorated and presented to perfection. I was dying to taste the Ravioli stuffed with salmon served with a rose’ sauce that my colleague opted for. Someone else had the Chicken pizzaiolo, which was served with mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh salad & potatoes. If it weren’t for the mushrooms I could have had a taste ! The guy next to me had Ribeye, but did not look as appetizing to me with so much sauce on. One mistake, the sauce should have been served aside…he did not seem to mind! Two of us had the amazing half rack of ribs served with BBQ or Honey Sauce and accompanied with salad & chips. Thumbs up for the ribs! If I go again I will definitely try the Tagliata di Manzo (beef sliced in pieces served with rosemary, pepper balls and a hint of olive oil) – served medium to rare, and with salad & potatoes. Bill came up to around EUR 30 per person, which I would say was reasonable.
One good thing about Browns is that it remains open in the afternoon, so it is an ideal place for late lunch, or early dinner….you do not really find such restaurant around the island!
